Miley Cyrus Sounds Off on Hair Comparisons to Pink

Die hard “PINK” fan – follow me on Facebook & Twitter  for all your Miley Cyrus updates

By: Dorothy Frazier

What’s the old adage? Imitation is the greatest form of flattery? Well former Hanna Montana star, Miley Cyrus definitely does not think so.

And just so you know….

That is lil miss Cyrus  in the pic below next to Pink— not two pics of PINK, one in her early twenties and the other age advanced to say about ….33 years old.

Not that you know both pics are… PINK cause I sure didn’t— but Miley seems to think that’s what we think. Does that make sense?

Ok, well it’s kind of weird, I know — but bare with me as I attempt to break this down!

The young starlet, who recently chopped off all her hair, looked pretty much identical to the older pop star…?

If we had to choose which were all things ‘fierce fierce’ from flicks below, we’d have to go for Pink , because her hair well…it’s a little more mature – to say the least.

Getty Images

The pop starlet took to Twitter after the MTV Video Music Awards to sound off on people noting that Miley and Pink had almost the exact same spiky blond Mohawk.

Lady Gaga, who knows a little something about copying an older singer’s style, tweeted her support for the country/pop singer: “@mileycyrus u out-dressed+styled everyone last night. If anyone gives you s**t about that haircut pay no mind. u look like Brigitte Nielson.” But she alsotweeted: some accessory advice: “although I did not think you needed those earrings. SHOW THAT FAB NECK.”

And Miley complained about the attention the matching hairstyles got by tweeting: ”Woah 2 girls have blonde short hair! The whole world should go in to panic mode. Redickkkk”

So, who rocked the Mohawk harder tonight? Sound off in the comments!

Fans React to Frank Ocean Performance of ‘Thinkin Bout You’ At VMAs

The internet is a Buzz today about singer Frank Ocean’s performance at the VMA’s last night. Ocean pulled off a ‘slam damn thank you ma’am’ — so to speak…with the execution of it all. The award winning artist  appeared seemingly lost in thought as he delivered “Thinkin’ Bout You,” a stream-of-consciousness confession from his new album “Channel Orange.”

Lady Gaga tweeted, “Watch frank ocean steal this whole show. I’m dead.” Fans seemed to share similar sentiments:

@ZachWeaver34  Frank Ocean is sooooo smoooooth.

?@MichaelBartko Frank ocean is one of the most talented artist out right now. No doubt.

@stfuloco  Frank Ocean is the best ocean. Sorry Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic….

@saul_v10 Frank Ocean had the best performance. #myopinion

?@KidFury Maxwell said Frank Ocean “slayed it” tonight.

Ocean’s first full-length studio album, Channel Orange, was set to be released July 17, and a letter in which he declared his first love, for another man, was initially meant to be a part of the album’s liner notes. But following an early listening party, BBC Radio 1Xtra personality Max pointed out that the lyrics referred to “he” and “him” instead of “she” and “her,” which she took to be an indication that Ocean is gay or bisexual. Ocean took matters into his own hands, and on Independence Day he posted that letter on his Tumblr for the entire world to see.

My hope is that the babies born these days will inherit less of the bullshit than we did. anyhow, what I’m about to post is for anyone who cares to read. It was intended to fill the thank you’s section in my album credits, but with all the rumors going around…I figured it’d be good to clarify…

His letter went viral and traveled worldwide in a matter of moments. Suddenly, everyone knew his name.

4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him, and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence…until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless…. It was my first love, it changed my life.

What are your thoughts on Frank Ocean’s performance last night? Leave comments below.

The comedian stars alongside Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in a video posted Wednesday on MTV’s website. Hart tells the pair he’s hosting the VMA show and that paparazzi are trying to get a look at “the new ‘it’ couple,” even though they would actually be a trio. He says, “I’m talking about Kev-Ye-Kim.”

The video shows a casually clad Kardashian and West, who is up for two Video Music Awards, lounging on the end of a bed. When West asks what Hart means, he offers other possible couple nicknames, including “Ye-Kev-Kim” and “Ye-Kim-Kev.”

Hart has appeared in the films “Think Like a Man” and “The Five-Year Engagement.” In 2011, he hosted the BET Awards.

The MTV Video Music Awards will be presented Sept. 6 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Rihanna and Drake lead the pack of nominees with five nods each. Last year’s big winner Katy Perry isn’t far behind, with four nominations.

Hosted by comedian Jon Gabrus, students compete in a series of trivia and interactive challenges in a classroom setting for the ultimate chance to win a cash price of $5,000.

Class begins with twenty students divided in classic high school rivalries, i.e. “jocks vs cheerleaders,” “athletes vs geeks,” and “public school girls vs private school girls.” Throughout each episode students participate in four rounds.

  • Round One: “Things You Do Know:” Trivia questions that are pop-culture in nature.  The winner of the last question wins a prize for their whole team. This round ends with ten students moving on to the next round.
  • Round Two: “Things You Should Know:” Trivia questions that focus on academics, subjects such as history, math, literature and politics.  At the end of this round, there are five finalists left.
  • Round Three: “What The #*?!:”  An interactive challenge where students are strapped into a contraption, such as “The Ping Pong Terror Wheel,” “The Ice Factory,” and the “The Carnival Cannon.” Students have to stay focused and answer as many questions as possible. The winner of this round competes against “The People’s Champ,” chosen by the student body and if “The People’s Champ,” wins the class splits the ultimate prize of $5,000.
  • Round Four: “What You Think:” In the final round the trivia questions are based on polls from high students and contestants must guess the top answer, for an example “the average student sends X amount of texts a day…”

2012 Grammy Nominations

2012 Grammy nominations: Adele, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters lead the musical pack.

Kanye West earned the most nominations for this year’s Grammys (a whopping 7).

But in the categories that count — Album, Song and Record of the Year — it’s two other stars who have a chance to sweep.

To the surprise of no one, the year’s biggest selling artist, Adele, bagged nods in all the top slots: Song and Record for her smash “Rolling In The Deep,” and Album for her second CD, “21.”

Adele bagged six Grammy nominations total.

The British singer earned six nods in all.

She’ll go head to head with a less obvious, or favored, candidate: Bruno Mars, who tied her tally with six bids, including the Record and Song slots for “Grenade,” and Album for his debut, “Doo-Wops and Hooligans.”

Both stars represent a resurgence of pure singing chops in an age of theatrics and gimmickry.

The Foo Fighters — seen by many as the last popular gasp for respected rock — also got six nods (though just one in a top category: Album of the Year).

Rapper Lil Wayne and the dance music producer Skrillex, each got five, all in lesser genre slots. Similarly, West’s large tally includes just one in a major category: Song of the Year for “All Of The Lights,” from his album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

Lady Gaga, a star expected to have as high a profile as Adele, only has one chance to compete in a pivotal slot: Album for “Born This Way.”

Other artists vying for the most prized awards include the neo-folk act Mumford & Songs, whose “The Cave” is up for Record and Song of the year, Katy Perry, with a bid in the Record slot for “Firework,” Rihanna, who’s in Album contention for “Loud,” and this year’s left-field choice, Bon Iver, nominated for both Record and Song with “Holocene.”

Bon Iver, this year’s token hipster group, also has a shot as Best New Artist (though it’s for their second CD). In that lusted-after category, they’ll square off against country’s The Band Perry, dance king Skrillex, rapper-singer J. Cole and the odds-on favorite to win — sight gag and New Yorker Nicki Minaj. The most glaring oversight in this category was breakout alterna-band Foster The People.

This year’s Grammys has earned considerable controversy for hacking down its list of over 100 categories to feature just 78, at the expense of many Latin artists.

An on-going protest about that will surely continue when the awards are handed out, Feb. 12, 2012 on CBS.

AMAs 2011 Performance Recap: Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Ludacris

Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond co-hosted the first annual American Music Awards back in 1974, and its fair to say that the program’s live shows have become a bit more spectacular since then. During the 2011 American Music Awards, broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday night (November 20), Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown both put on over-the-top performances. They were followed by Enrique Iglesias and Ludacris, who also went heavy on the theatrics.

French DJ/producer David Guetta joined Nicki Minaj to kick off the live show. He teased with a snippet of his high-energy mix of Snoop Dogg’s “Sweat” from behind a backdrop of sculptures and projections of bass bins. Next, a giant set of pink speakers sparked and toppled over to reveal Minaj, in a curly pink wig and form-fitting silver android costume singing “Turn Me On.” While Minaj has had a few timid moments performing live, with her voice falling below her track, there was a noticeable spike in her energy. She maintained it through “Super Bass,” singing and rapping to two giant robots blasting fog guns.

Clad in a white T-shirt, jeans, and a tasteful gold link chain, Chris Brown caressed his microphone during the longing track “All Back,” and then briefly disappeared into the darkness. Brown donned a white jacket and posed behind a screen projecting two opposing images of his head, which dissolved into a sea of pixels that he appeared to crash through for a dance number set to “Say It With Me.” He and his doppelganger on the screen hit some Michael Jackson-esque spins and whoops.

Enrique Iglesias brought out a full band and a laser light show for “I Like How It Feels” but Ludacris kicked things up a notch when he joined the Latin singer onstage to spit his verse on “Tonight (I’m Loving You).” Luda was full of energy, jumping up and down in synchronicity with Iglesias and the dozens of other singers on stage.

The VMA’s, one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music…You Decide

Earlier in the day Adam Levine Tweeted, “the VMA’s, one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I’m drawing a line in the sand. fuck you VMA’s.

Lady Gaga as Joe Calderone and Brian May perform 'You and I' on stage during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Photo by Getty Images

Well did the VMA’s prove him wrong? MTV definitely packed more music within its pre – show as well as the main event, but many were not convinced.

Here’s how it went down in chronological order:

9 p.m.: Lady Gaga kicked off the VMAs by critiquing herself in the guise of her male Jo Calderone persona, a kind of 50s greaser dude who claims to have dated her.

We wondered last week how she could go weirder than a meat dress or showing up in an egg, and we guess she sort of did. She won over the traditional rock types by performing with May.

Dave Grohl looked psyched. Britney Spears, who went on to receive a special award and the first prize of the night, looked confused.

9:10: Comedian Kevin followed her performance, explaining that while he was bringing up the first nominations, he wasn’t the host, because the show didn’t have one. He said Oprah Winfrey had called him to host and got one of his only laughs for describing Winfrey using a naughty word.

9:23: Jay-Z and West — making his semi-triumphant return to the VMAs — perform “Otis” from their new “Watch the Throne” collaboration. It never really takes off because the song doesn’t work. It’s a boring loop with no beat, and Otis Redding, being dead, doesn’t get to do his best work. Kanye, Jay and Otis Redding:

9:27: Foo Fighters win best rock video. There has not been a Foo Fighters video on MTV in 37 years.

9:36: Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly reprise their roles as the Beastie Boys from that one video. Ferrell thinks the Beastie Boys pronounce the future “the futah,” but they’re actually petty good about not adopting fake rappy accents. Aside: I don’t quit get this. In 1986 it would make sense to imagine the Beaties growing up to look like Ferrell, Black and Reilly, but don’t the Beasties look a lot better despite being older? Checking everyone’s ages now. Apologies in advance if I’m wrong.

9:41: The Beastie Boys and the dude’s playing them are all in their mid-40s. Seriously I don’t get this joke.

9:48: Katy Perry and Kanye West win an award, and she makes a joke about him interrupting. He doesn’t. And so the awards remain boring.

10 p.m.: Adele beats every other performer at the VMAs with a giant stick. She seems not to understand that the theme of tonight’s show is phoning it in. Lovely.

10:12: Justin Bieber accepts award wearing not very intellectual looking glasses. He ups the ante by thanking not only God but Jesus. That’s on some Elvis-type ish right there.

10:18: Chris Brown embraces the time-travel-or-whatever-it-is theme by doing a dance medley of mostly other people’s songs, including Wu Tang Clan’s “Protect Ya Neck” and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The VMAs become vaguely fun. Then he starts flying, which is fine. He starts off in front of bars, which might be a grim commentary on his violent past. Or they just looked cool.

10:28: Gaga presents Spears the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in her Calderone suit. She says Brit-Brit used to influence her when she would play open mics in New York, presumably referring to Britney’s folk years. She also says she used to have a poster of Britney on her wall and touch herself. Sexual tension thus established, she stands around expectedly when Britney takes the stage, but a kiss is not to be. “I’ve done that already,” Spears explains.

Oh, we almost forgot: As if to taunt everyone who claimed about Britney’s outfits when she was 16, the VMAs fill the stage with prepubescent girls dressed up in Spears’ various sultry costumes. Check back tomorrow for our outraged parents story.

10:30: Beyonce, who announced her pregnancy on the red carpet, sings a buoyantly happy song. Her hair looks amazing, the dance steps are cute and pregnancy-approved, and her and her backup singers outfits are straight out of “The Five Heartbeats.” We defy you to say anything bad about it. No, seriously, don’t.

10:40: MTV pretends to care about heart and stuff with an obligatory appearance by local-band- made-good Young Giant.

10:55: Chloris Leachman and the “Jersey Shore” ladies do a little routine about how she’s not a grenade and no one her age knows who they are and oh my God people of all ages can say bad words on TV.

10:59: Lady Gaga accepts an awards and says “you were born this way” whether your’re gay, straight, bi or transgendered. It’s a nice moment.

11:06: Russell Brand doesn’t sugar coat it in a memorial to Amy Winehouse. He says he thought of her as “a daft dopey person” and couldn’t believe when he heard her voice “coming from that crazy person. A person that I just knew that would walk away stinking of the booze. Just a loopy loose cannon person.” Then he realized she was “a genius.” He says “there is a solution” to people who suffer from drug and alcohol abuse.

11:10: Tony Bennett compares Winehouse to Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday, as did Brand. Then he plays one of her recordings from March — a duet they did together — and she sounds amazing. Devastating.

More to come…

Nicki Minaj says she was “Born this Way” too!

Published by EOTM News Editor on August 28th, 2011 - in Celebrity News, MTV Awards Shows

‘Super Bass’ singer said she’s most excited about her Best Hip-Hop nomination –

Nicki Minaj descended the VMA Pre-Show escalator channeling her Harajuku Barbie alter ego in an outfit that could only be described as all things Lady Gaga. Minaj layered a shiny, structural purple bodice with a frothy tutu under-pinning. Accessories ran the gamut from a chunky, soft-serve ice cream necklace to layers of cartoon-covered socks, leg warmers and slippers. She topped off the look with a Japanese face mask and a mop of blond, red, yellow and orange locks.

When asked by MTV News’ James Montgomery which of her three nominations — Best Female, Best Hip-Hop or Best Collaboration — she wanted to win the most, the answer was clear for Minaj. “I’d like to win Best Hip-Hop Video,” she said. “Yeah, but they’re all important. And I’d be honored to win either. I’m honored just to be nominated.”
