Society of Illustrators… ‘Water Goddess Fashion Show.’

Yes, making his debut at Alaska Fashion Week’s finale… is what ultra-talented New York based designer, LaQuan Smith will do – in grand style…we might add.

Known for his attention to detail, Laquan has designed custom pieces for artists such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce’ Alexa Chung, RitaOra, Paula Patton, Jennifer Lopez, Dakota Fanning, Courtney Love, Amerie, Tyra Banks,Amber Rose, Sessilee Lopez, and the list goes on and on.

According to Clutch Mag, the designer finds inspiration in varied places for his collections. One season he selected a water goddess as his muse; another he was inspired by his travels and a particularly beautiful garden in France.

With that said, it appears fashionista’s have a lot to look forward to.

Alaska Fashion week kicks off Thursday June 27th thru the 30th at the beautiful Dena ‘ina Civic Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Models will rip the runway with designs by EMI, Jun Artajo, Jasmine Agape, Leontine Abdullah, Camille Liwanag, Jun Artajo, Beso Moda, Rockets, Apricot Lane, Lovey, Parris Harris, I Style, Beware and of course LaQuan Smith.

With buyers from all over the world in attendance, the Alaska Fashion Week has already been predicted to be a major success.

The four-day event blends emerging talent with veteran designers and is best known for its cutting-edge talent and avant garde trends.

What shoppers can take away from Alaska is the idea that the runway is a tool to present fanciful options, not to be used to dictate a specific look.

“This amazing show is going to help the person out who is trying to get dressed in the morning, hanging out with friends, attending an art exhibit or sashaying across a Hollywood red carpet,” said Dominick Liriano, founder and producer of Alaska Fashion Week.  “I’m just trying to bring all these things together and make something that’s beautiful. We have an amazing Board of Directors that is working diligently as well; Sabrina Kern, Richard Zacharakis, Shirley Manuel Palmer, Jean Rojas, Lilibeth McIntosh, RC Woodson, Marie Grace and Bagang-Tavarez, all of which have been working relentlessly day and night to bring the biggest fashion event this side of the equator,” Liriano continued.

Actress charged in ricin letters sent to President Obama

Via (USA Today)

Shannon Richardson, pregnant actress, tried to frame estranged husband for ricin letters sent to Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg, FBI says—

A TV actress was arrested and charged Friday in connection with ricin-laced letters sent to President Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

A pregnant Texas actress who initially told FBI agents her husband had sent ricin-tainted letters to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been arrested. (June 7)

The arrest of Shannon Rogers Guess Richardson, 35, comes two weeks after Richardson contacted the FBI claiming that her husband, Nathan Richardson, had sent the letters last month to Obama, Bloomberg and Mark Glaze, head of a gun-control organization co-founded by Bloomberg.

Richardson, according to a federal criminal complaint, is charged with mailing a threatening communication to the the president. An arrest affidavit says Richardson mailed the letters on May 20. She made an initial court appearance in Texas Friday afternoon. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

Nathan Richardson, a 33-year-old Army veteran, was questioned by the FBI last week. He’s been married to Ms. Richardson, a former Dallas beauty queen, since 2011. She has had minor roles in cable TV series The Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries.

Richardson contacted agents after she said she found a suspicious substance in her refrigerator and ricin-related Internet searches on the couple’s computer. But investigators said she had sent the letters.

Attorney John Delk, who represents Nathan Richardson, said his client is divorcing his wife and claimed she was trying to set him up when she contacted authorities about the letters. “There are a lot of factors I’m aware of that indicate (he) was set up in this deal by her,” Delk said.

Delk said Nathan Richardson came to him to discuss a potential divorce a year ago and finally hired him on May 6, weeks before the ricin incident came to light. The couple is expecting their first child in October. Shannon Richardson has five children ranging in age from 4 to 19 from other relationships, Delk said.

FBI agents in hazardous material suits were seen at her home earlier this week in New Boston, Texas, a small community near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border.

2013 NBA Finals: @MiamiHEAT 0 @Spurs 1 – EOTM Sports News

SAS Lead Series 1-0 – Game 1

(USA Today Sports) — With time running out on the shot and game clocks and the San Antonio Spurs clinging to a two-point lead, Tony Parker almost lost the ball, almost had a shot blocked by LeBron James, almost didn’t get off a shot in time. And he became the Game 1 hero.

(Photo: Steve Mitchell, USA TODAY Sports)

Parker threw up a desperation attempt high off the backboard that dropped in with 5.2 seconds remaining gave the Spurs a 92-88 victory Thursday against the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

“I was going down and just tried to get a shot off,” Parker said.
USA TODAY

PARKER: powered Spurs sweep into NBA Finals

BOX SCORE: Spurs 92, Heat 88

SCHEDULE: NBA Finals times, TV info

He barely did. James got his hand on the ball as Parker went up. Parker then double-clutched, and as he fell forward, the ball left his hands as the shot clock expired. And the Spurs took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Parker had a game-high 21 points, but the stars came out for the series opener. James had a triple-double (18 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists), Dwyane Wade had 17 points and Chris Bosh had 13 points. But Tim Duncan (20 points, 14 rebounds) and Manu Ginobili (13 points) had just a little more help from their role players.

“Obviously, Lebron is unbelievable and Dwyane Wade was playing great,” Parker said. “We just try to contain them.”

MODEL FRANCHISE: Why others emulate Spurs, not Heat

DUNCAN: This career-spanning statistic is unbelievable

WATCH: Did the Heat really prancercise during pregame?

The Spurs erased a 76-73 deficit early in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Heat 19-12 in the final 8:08 with Parker leading the charge. The Heat cut it to 88-86 on three free throws from Ray Allen and were within 90-88 before Parker’s basket.

Game 2 is Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

And this series seems far from over. Settle in because it has the hallmarks of a classic — future Hall of Famers, great coaching, front-office acumen.

The Heat are trying to become the first team since the creation of the 16-team playoff format in 1984 to play in consecutive seven-game Eastern Conference finals and win the back-to-back championships. The Game 1 winner is 21-8 in the Finals since 1984 but 0-2 in the past two seasons.

The Spurs are trying to win a fifth title, spanning three decades. Duncan has been the centerpiece of title teams in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

How close was it? Neither team led by more than nine points.

The Spurs play a slightly different game than the Indiana Pacers, and it’s a style Miami prefers — more wide-open with more three-point opportunities.

It was a feeling-out process in the first quarter, and after a quick 9-2 start by the Spurs, the Heat began to find more open space — especially at the three-point line — than they had against the Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals.

Though it took Heat coach Erik Spoelstra longer than it should have, he finally went to Mike Miller instead of Shane Battier off the bench, starting with Game 7 against the Pacers. He went back to Miller in Game 1 against the Spurs.

And when Spoelstra implores that everything is “on the table” in the Finals, he means it. Eleven Heat players checked into the game in the first half, including Joel Anthony who had a had a productive three minutes with three rebounds.

The Heat took their threes liberally, finishing 8-for-25. But one of the misses was crippling: James hit Bosh with a pass on a drive with about a minute left, and Bosh fired a wide-open three-pointer. It clanked off, and Green grabbed the rebound.

“He was probably open at that point for a reason,” Spoelstra said.

Miami played a strong first half — 20-for-40 from the field, including 40% on three-pointers and committed just two turnovers. James motored toward a triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists

Knee problem for Wade? What knee problem? Officially, it’s a bruised right knee, but he showed little effort from it with 13 points in the first half.

But even with that kind of half, they led just 52-49 at halftime, and the Spurs didn’t have to feel too badly, considering they shot 42.9% from the field. Green (three three-pointers) and Duncan (12 points) kept the Spurs close.

Game 2 happens Sunday, June 9th.

Nasty note left after Bobbi Kristina leaves apartment

Via (USA Today)

ATLANTA — Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown may have lashed out at a neighbor, leaving a nasty note after complaints of too much noise coming from her apartment.

(Photo: Frazer Harrison, Getty Images)

According to a report from the Alpharetta, Ga., police department, filed Tuesday, the note said:

Thanks

You are s— at the bottom our our shoe.

Thank You for making a hard year harder.

You are a miserable couple and always will be

You were honored to have us living above you and you couldn’t stand such a young beautiful couple far more successful than you ever will be. I pray your misery doesn’t rub off on your innocent little baby.

Neighbor Joshua Morse, who received the note, said he and his wife have filed more than 10 noise complaints against Brown.

Alpharetta police department records show that since Brown moved to the complex in September, officers have gone to her apartment four times to check on the noise.
USA TODAY Sports Weekly

Neighbors say Brown, whose boyfriend is her adopted brother Nick Gordon, has turned in her keys and left the complex.

According to E! News, Brown’s representative is refuting rumors that Brown was evicted. The rep said Wednesday that Brown left because of the complaints and that friends of Brown wrote the note.

According to animal control records, another neighbor called Fulton County animal services, concerned that an abandoned dog was left in the apartment after Brown moved out. The dog was picked up before animal control officers had a chance to respond.

CMT Awards 2013: What you can Expect

Follow  us on Twitter @eotmonline| EOTM.Media on Facebook

Country music has been good to the rapper Nelly, and he’s back in Music City because of it.

Nelly will perform the crossover hit “Cruise” with country duo Florida Georgia Line during the CMT Music Awards. The imaginary, but once impenetrable, lines between American music genres are blurring more each day, and Nelly’s happy to serve as an eraser.

From left, Brian Kelley, Nelly and Tyler Hubbard of the musical group Florida Georgia Line, perform at at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, April 18, 2013. / AP

“Obviously our views today aren’t the same as our grandparents’, so when you look at the way the youth migrates and the way everything intertwines, the Internet has brought so many people together around the world in the same place at the same time,” said Nelly, who’s also scored a hit with Tim McGraw.
SAMANTHA WILLS

“Music was only in line to be integrated like that. It’s a beautiful thing because you want your kids to be multifaceted. You want your kids to experience a lot more than you did as a child,” he said. “So I welcome it. My kids are Taylor Swift fans. They love Florida Georgia Line. But they also love Lil Wayne.”

More than any of the legion of country music honors shows, the CMT Awards have helped push boundaries. Nelly’s not the first rapper to appear, and rockers like Lenny Kravitz, who will perform with co-host Jason Aldean, are common as well.

The fan-voted awards show will air live at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Aldean hosts with actress Kristen Bell.

Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and Luke Bryan lead with four nominations apiece. They’re among 10 nominees for top honor video of the year. Six finalists will be announced for the award at the top of the show and fans will vote for a winner at the network’s website during the broadcast. Voting in other categories has closed.

Aldean and Kenny Chesney are among the acts with three nominations.

The awards usually are overshadowed by performances, off-brand celebrity appearances and the occasional weird mashup.

Take Wednesday night’s announced kickoff segment. It will feature country heavyweights Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan and…Dr. Drew Pinsky, Kelsey Grammer, Lorraine Bracco and Vince Vaughn.

The network doesn’t describe what this unlikely group of eight will be doing together.

Underwood will pay tribute to the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes during the show. And Swift, Bryan, Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes and Lady Antebellum with Darius Rucker also will perform. Presenters include Sheryl Crow, Ed Sheeran, “Dancing with the Stars” winner Kellie Pickler, brothers Kevin and Michael Bacon and Lisa Marie Presley.
