Shakira and Usher break records with “The Voice” judging debut

Season 4 of The Voice kicked off with a bang on Monday night with Grammy winning artists Shakira and Usher filling in for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

And according to Nielsen’s ratings last night’s episode of The Voice had 13.4 million viewers and a 4.7 rating among adults 18-49.

The two jumped right in with genuine ease, winning over the contestants.

Singer Usher wins primary custody of sons

R&B singer Usher has won primary physical custody of his two sons with ex-wife Tameka Foster, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane ruled that the singer, 33, will have primary custody of 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, according to Cherrise Boone, spokeswoman for the court clerk’s office. His custody will start Sept. 1. Boone said Usher and his ex-wife Tameka would have joint legal custody. The type of visitation for Foster has not been determined.

Usher and Foster wed in 2007 before divorcing two years later.

In May, Usher testified that Tameka spit at and tried to fight with his girlfriend during one visit and that his ex-wife hit him during the dispute. He said he didn’t press charges because: “I didn’t want the boys to know that their father put their mother in jail,” he said.

Tameka’s attorney claimed that Usher provoked her client and that his account is exaggerated.

The custody decision comes after Foster’s 11-year-old son Kyle Glover died last month after he was critically injured in a boating accident.

Foster may need to get a regular job soon, no more child support — at least from one of her baby daddies.

Usher Step son ‘Kile Foster’ Funeral Scheduled for Friday

Kile Glover, 11, Usher Raymond’s step son with ex-wife, Tameka Foster, who passed away from heart failure earlier this week after being removed from life support in the wake of a tragic personal watercraft accident earlier this month—will be laid to rest Friday in Atlanta.

Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Buckhead.

Glover, whose father is Atlanta TV executive Ryan Glover, was struck by a personal watercraft driven by a family friend while he was sitting in an inner tube on Georgia’s Lake Lanier during a weekend getaway on July 7.

Superstar Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, will lay her 11-year-old son, Kile Glover, to rest Friday at the little boy’s funeral, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Glover, who succumbed to injuries sustained when he was struck by a jet ski on July 6, will be remembered during a funeral service being held at 11 a.m. at Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Glover and a teenaged friend were both in inner tubes when they were reportedly struck by a family friend operating the watercraft.

The teenager was treated and released, but Glover was unresponsive after the crash and listed in critical condition at the hospital. Glover was declared brain dead before he died.

Kile Glover, 11 year old stepson of singer Usher Raymond and biological child of ex-wife Tameka Foster, was taken off life support Saturday morning, weeks after the tween was involved in a tragic jet ski accident.

A friend of the family confirmed to Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta that he was taken off life support at 9 am.

Kile was declared brain dead two days after the July 6 accident, and the family struggled with the decision to remove him from life support hoping for a turn in his condition.

“We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time,” the family told CNN in a statement weeks ago. “We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.”

Kile is one of two children between Foster and Glover, her first husband. She and Usher have two boys, 4-year-old Usher V (4) and 3-year-old Naviyd.

Funeral arrangements were pending, according to Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home, which declined to provide any additional immediate information.

‘A pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them,’ Sgt. Mike Burgamy with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources told The News.

Family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard of Atlanta is under investigation for the Friday afternoon collision with the 11-year-old boy who was riding in an inner tube on Georgia’s Lake Lanier, according to the Daily News.

“Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them,” Sgt. Mike Burgamy with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources told The News.

He said two of his rangers witnessed what appeared to be a tragic accident.

Alcohol was not a factor, and investigators do not believe it was a mechanical malfunction, he said.

Both young victims – the other being an unidentified 15-year-old girl – were wearing life jackets, he said.

TMZ is reporting that Glover, who is the son of Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster, has not experienced any brain activity since he was admitted into the hospital two days ago.

According to the report young Kyle and a 15 year old girl were floating in inner tubes on Lake Lanier near Atlanta, when they were struck by a man on a jet ski being pulled by a boat. Glover was unresponsive when he was taken out of the water and airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, the young girl was treated for a cut on the head and a broken arm.

Usher’s friends were tweeting their love and support earlier today. Fantasia Barrino wrote: “Everyone PLEASE pray for Usher and Tameka’s son! This is the time they really need your prayers!”

A decision has yet to be made on whether to take the youngster off life support. Foster took to her Facebook page to thank fans and family for their support and urged them to pray for her little boy. The mother-of-five wrote: “Kyle, You are strong … You’ll be saved I know it. I love you my baby. I need all #Prayers for my son! thanks you everybody! (sic)”

The accident is now being investigated, with the Department of Natural Resource in Atlanta launching an inquiry.

A spokesperson for the organization confirmed rangers have been in touch with the jet ski driver. Once the investigation is completed, a recommendation will be given to the district attorney, who will decide whether to file any criminal charges.

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards was kicked off at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8/7c with a live performance of “Party Rock Anthem” / “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO. “Modern Family” stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen hosted the event, showing footage of their rapping a song which was bleeped out a lot and cracking a joke about Taylor Swift doing the running man.

Invited to the stage as the first winner of the evening was Justin Bieber. The Canadian teen star was announced by Julianne Hough as a recipient for Top Social Artist, beating such competitors as Eminem, Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Shakira. “First of all, I just want to say how much of a blessing it’s been the past three or four years, just growing up in front of everybody,” he said.

Bieber continued, “I just want to thank all my fans because, you know, the internet is where I got my start and all my fans have helped me get to this position.” He also gave shout-out to his manager Scooter Braun and thanked his mentor Usher “for not only saying, ‘Okay, I can sign him and just let him be’ but instead he takes the time to really care.”

After having a moment of silence to remember Bee Gees’ Robin Gibb who just passed away, the awards show continued by announcing the next winner. Lisa Marie Presley took the stage to present Katy Perry with Spotlight Award. “This is cool! They told me the only other person who’s received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honoured to be in the same category – although I don’t compare at all!” she gushed.

Kelly Clarkson and The Wanted performed their respective singles before Miley Cyrus appeared on stage revealing who this year’s Billboard best new artist was. Wiz Khalifa won the title over Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster the People and Scotty McCreery. “I gotta thank God first, cause God is amazing – so amazing,” the rapper said. He also thanked his parents, his “beautiful fiancee” Amber Rose and his fans.

Billboard.com reported that a tribute for Whitney Houston has been planned for months. But the unexpected deaths of Donna Summers and Adam Yauch forced organizers to re-arrange this year’s show a little bit.

Billboard Music Awards co-executive producer Richard Beckman said that the Whitney Houston tribute will feature performances from John Legend and Jordin Sparks. The award show also gave Houston the Millenium Award, which was accepted by Bobbi Kristina.

Beckman said:

“I was at the Grammys, and what a curveball they were thrown when Whitney passed away [the day before the show]. They did a good job with Jennifer Hudson, but obviously we had a bit more time, so we wanted to do something honoring such a remarkable performer. “

Beckman said that MCA and Summers will also be honored during tonight’s show, but did not give any details.

Beckman said:

“We’re going to do something for Adam, and for Donna too — given that it only happened yesterday, there’s not a lot of room to get too creative, but they’re both great influences in music and they deserve to be respected.”
