Rumor Mill: Britney Spears Out of ‘The X Factor’?

Mainstream media makes this fact known time and time again — they do NOT want bad girls to turn good, they would prefer instead for them to stay bad – to the bone…its great for ratings…or so it appears in Reality TV.

This week in the rumor mill, ABC News reported that Britney Spears is about to get booted out of her X Factor judges chair, and according to their sources, Simon Cowell thinks she is too boring and prefers the crazy Britney instead.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “nothing has been decided. No one has discussed next year’s judging panel yet and any reports otherwise are complete speculation,” the source concluded.

US Weekly has also chimed in and says their sources confirms that Spears’ time as judge is in fact coming to an end.

In a recent interview with E! Online, Cowell said he hadn’t talked to Spears about the show’s 2013 season.

“I don’t know yet, to be honest with you,” he said. “I haven’t had the conversation with her whether she’d want to, what other commitments she’s got.”

If the “Toxic” singer does get the ax, it definitely wouldn’t be a surprise. In just two seasons, X Factor has said goodbye to Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid.

‘X Factor’ Will Sign On Two Female Judges, 2 New Hosts

Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid also confirm that the show will ‘continually’ pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid spoke candidly to reporters Wednesday about the major changes coming in the second season of “The X Factor,” revealing that while replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger have not been secured, viewers can expect two female judges to join the panel this fall as well as two hosts — one male and one female.

Addressing rumors that Janet Jackson and Britney Spears have been approached to step in for Abdul and Scherzinger, who were fired from the show in January, Cowell would not confirm whom producers were talking to but did not deny that Jackson was on the table. “You can probably count on two girls,” Reid added. “That we can confirm.”

“There’s a load of speculation, some true, some not true. It’s true to say that a lot of more people have entered the frame this year. We were waiting to see who was going to contact us before we actually contacted people,” Cowell told reporters on the conference call. “We’re in that place right now, which is a good place to be in. We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks, mainly to explain to them that this is a big commitment when you do a show like this because of the mentoring aspect.”

Reid also elaborated on talk that the late Whitney Houston was in talks to join the show prior to her tragic death on February 11 in Beverly Hills.

“We love Whitney and we would have certainly considered it,” he said. “But the truth is, it never quite came to that. There was an entrance there, but we never actually had meetings about it. But, again, we’re both huge fans and we’re sad about the loss. But we didn’t really get that far.”

The show will likely honor the “I Will Always Love You” singer when it returns this fall. “I was going to recommend that, that we do a Whitney segment because the music is so amazing and it’s so generational and such a challenge for singers,” Cowell said. ”I have a feeling, just a hunch, that you may see a Whitney tribute on ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol’ before us. If we decide to do it, we have to do it in a different way. The important thing is that we are going to continually pay tribute to Whitney on this show.”

Rumors abound that a preliminary meeting about Houston joining the show was set to take place on February 13.

Fans shouldn’t expect the new judges to be named before the show begins its open auditions in mid-March, according to Cowell, who noted that since the early auditions are not filmed, “we probably don’t need to have them by then.”

He also confirmed that host Steve Jones would be replaced with two hosts. “I always wanted a boy and girl, and I think that’s going to happen now,” Cowell told reporters. “I think it’s going to be a lot more fun.” Once again, however, the judges did not name names regarding whom they are considering for the hosting positions.

Cowell and Reid hit on a number of other topics, including the “Factor”/”Voice”/”Idol” sing-off he proposed on Twitter and Cowell’s current relationship with Abdul.

Cowell said he felt his proposed sing-off “would be the music Super Bowl” and that he was “disappointed with the reaction back from the other two shows.” (“The Voice” judge Adam Levine told “Access Hollywood” he’s “not really interested.”) Both judges then joked that the real battle may have to play out on the music charts before Cowell added, “Maybe we’ll just have to compete in the Grammys moving forward.”

Asked if he would ever consider working with Abdul again, Cowell admitted that he and the “Straight Up” singer remain friends and that Abdul has been “incredibly gracious and respectful” since she was let go from “The X Factor.” “I think it actually will happen,” he added.

Simon Cowell Sounds Off on X Factor Shakeup

A week after judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones were fired from The X Factor Simon Cowell is finally talking.

Getty Images

“It was fairly straight what [the network] wanted, and we were told it had to happen straight away,” Cowell said in an interview with Extra Tuesday regarding Fox’s decision to get rid of the three regulars. He added that he wanted to keep Adbul, who was gracious upon receiving the bad news. “She understand it’s business, it’s never personal,” he said.

“Paula was an interesting call,” Fox’s President of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell told Entertainment Weekly in a separate interview also posted Tuesday. “She and Simon are great friends, so it was just a dynamic conversation about what’s the nature of the group going to be. And I think we decided to pull the Band-Aid off as quickly as possible.”

“Season 1 was basically an audition act,” Darnell said. “Simon got one big new star out of it – L.A. Reid, and that was great casting. There’s going to be a natural reassessment.” Reid has already signed up to return for Season 2.

Scherzinger told Access Hollywood on Tuesday that she has no hard feelings. “I had a wonderful experience on the show,” she said. “Nothing could obviously prepare me for everything I had to go through, all the emotions and stuff… All I know is I gave 110 percent to that show.” Cowell told Extra the former Pussycat Doll wasn’t necessarily mad. “I think she’s disappointed,” he said.

Rumors have already begun to fly about who should replace Abdul, Scherzinger and Jones. Cowell shot down reports that he had offered $100 million to Beyoncé to join the show. He also noted that Elton John and Mariah Carey aren’t on the list of potential candidates, but Katy Perry would be “fun” and “feisty.”

On another note, Extra asked Cowell if he feels threatened by his NBC competition, The Voice, which has been pushing the fact that their judges (Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee-Lo Green and Adam Levine) are Grammy-winning artists.

“I would ask how many records have they made, how many artists have they discovered?” said Cowell, who also mentioned that he does not watch his competitor’s shows. “That’s where we have to be different on the judging panel. It’s very important that you have people on the panel that have actually signed and made artists successful all over the world, not just have made hit records yourself.”

Paula Abdul & Nicole Scherzinger Leave The X Factor

Published by EOTM News Editor on January 31st, 2012 - in Breaking News, Celebrity News, Entertainment News, Music

What’s even more dramatic than frontrunner Rachel Crow collapsing into sobs after a shocking elimination from The X Factor?

The shakeup that’s shaping up for season 2 of the Fox singing competition.

On the heels of the news that Steve Jones was leaving
the show as host, judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger are reportedly out as well, according to EW.com.

Abdul had a tough time mentoring the groups, becoming the first judge without contestants on season 1. And Scherzinger faced serious backlash after Crow’s elimination.

With the women off the judges’ panel, record producer L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell, who is also the executive producer of the talent competition, are the only familiar faces that remain.

Speculation about a possible casting change began brewing in December, although Jones originally brushed off talk of his exit as “a fabrication.”

A week later, Cowell told PEOPLE he would be making some changes for the sophomore season. And so it appears he did.

A U.K. rep for Cowell could not comment on reports of the departures but said that “discussions and negotiations” are standard after a first season ends. “This happens after every show or series,” he added. “No decisions have been made that I am aware of.”

X Factor Winner

‘X Factor’ winner: Melanie Amaro captures title in Simon Cowell’s import of British talent competition.

The X-Factor” has crowned its first American Champion.

John Shearer/WireImage

Melanie Amaro, who was briefly sent packing from the reality competition show earlier in the season only to be later reinstated, went home with a $5 million recording contract and a starring role in a Pepsi commercial.”Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God,” was all the teary 19-year-old could muster when host Steve Jones announced her win.Amaro beat out runner up Josh Krajcik, a single father whose inspirational story seemed to strike a chord with many fans, and Chris Rene, a 28-year-old singer-rapper from California who overcame drug and alcohol addition through his music.

The Sunrise, Fla., product’s soulful rendition of Beyonce’s ballad “Listen,” which she also sang at her audition, may have put her over the top in Wednesday’s final performance round.

“I want to say, ‘America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity,’” “The X-Factor” creator and judge Simon Cowell, who mentored Amaro during the show, told the crowd. “She will represent this country, she is a star. I am very, very proud and very grateful.”

It’s less clear if Fox won out with the reality show, though the network has already renewed the show for a second season. Cowell, who brought aboard L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul as co-judges, couldn’t ignite the pop culture phenomenon that “The X-Factor” has become in Britain – or that his previous import, “American Idol” has become on this side of the Pond.

‘X Factor’ Debut: Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul Reunite

The X Factor has certainty built major excitement after the premiere Wednesday night.

A 20-year-old mama’s boy, a 42-year-old stay-at-home mom and a 13-year-old with big pop dreams were among the discoveries for the new season of X Factor.

The show, adapted from the British hit brings Simon Cowell back together with Paula Abdul and panel judges record executive Antonio “L.A.” Reid and pop stars Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger.

How is the X Factor different than American Idol…you ask?

There are several major differences between “X” and “Idol,” foremost being the $5 million recording contract that will awarded to the “X Factor” winner. Other distinctions? “X” is open to singers ages 13 and up, including groups of artists; contestants will eventually be divided into four categories (boys, girls, over-30s and groups); and early audition rounds are held in front of a live audience rather than the closed quarters of the early “Idol” rounds.

The two-part “X Factor” premiere continues Thursday night on Fox.

Simon Cowell Obsessed with looking young

Published by EOTM News Editor on July 20th, 2011 - in Breaking News, Celebrity News, Entertainment News, Trending

Simon Cowell, The Idolator king, takes the #1 spot in Celebrity news via EOTM! Online. Cowell is allegedly obsessed with a popular anti ageing beverage made with lingonberry, chokeberry, aronia juice and acerola berry. He got his first taste for the beverage during a recent visit to Miami. He has asked for the drink’s ingredients to be imported from around the world when he is on the road in US for “The X Factor” auditions.

“He’s obsessed with staying healthy and wants to look after himself. The drink is an extension of that. It is not cheap to make and involves lots of hard-to-buy fruit which we need to take on the road. But for someone like Simon it is not a big deal if it costs a lot,” mirror.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

Simon Cowell Takes Notice of Rebecca Black

Published by EOTM Press Room on April 2nd, 2011 - in Breaking News, Celebrity News

While Rebecca’s auto-tuned ditty is being hailed as the “worst song ever” by online outlets and social media users, the teen’s viral video has caught the attention of music master Simon Cowell, who is intrigued by the public’s apparently overwhelming disdain to the would-be singer.

“I love [Rebecca] [and] the fact that she’s gotten so much publicity,” Simon told People on Friday. “People are so upset about the song, but I think it’s hysterical. I want to meet her.”
