Report: Katie Holmes wasn’t Scientology’s first choice to be the bride of Tom Cruise

Published by EOTM News Editor on September 2nd, 2012 - in Breaking News, Entertainment News, Religion
Tom Cruise and Scientology just got a little bit more spookier. According to Vanity Fair, Katie Holmes was not the religious sects first choice for the Top Gun. According to the mags writer Maureen Orth, the Church of Scientology auditioned multiple actresses to date Cruise, however, the women thought they were auditioning for a Scientology training film. The project was run by Scientology leader David Miscavige’s wife Shelly in 2004, although the church denies it ever existed and dismissed the sources as disgruntled former Scientologists.

Marc Headley, who wrote the Scientology expose “Blown for Good,” claimed Cruise watched several audition tapes. After an intensive screening process, the Church eventually chose British-Iranian actress Nazanin Boniadi, according to Vanity Fair. She was reportedly ordered to change her hair color, dump her boyfriend and swear to secrecy before dating Cruise from November 2004 until January 2005.

During the brief relationship, Orth wrote, Boniadi was reported to Scientology officials for any minor slight against Cruise or David Miscavige, and her only source of income was a credit card from Cruise’s production company.

In January 2005, the Church of Scientology told Boniadi the relationship was over because Cruise wanted “someone with her own power – like Nicole [Kidman],” according to Vanity Fair.By April 2005, Cruise and Holmes were publicly dating. They married and had a daughter, Suri Cruise, in 2006.
The high profile couple divorce settlement was finalized in July, whereas they reached a private divorce settlement and custody agreement.

The pair have reportedly been friends since 2006, when Holmes married Cruise. Kidman divorced the Top Gun actor in 2001 after 11 years, and has two adopted children with him – Isabella, 19 and Connor 17.

“They’ve spoken over the last few weeks,” a US Weekly source shared with the magazine. Nicole has been supportive, saying “she’s been through it too,” and to hang in there.

The couple reached a private settlement just 11 days after Holmes filed for divorce, avoiding a full-blown court battle as well as detailed exposure of the actor’s links to Scientology.Related Articles:

What does the number 33 mean to ‘Scientology’ and ‘Tom Cruise’?

In my many blog posts on Tom Crusie, Katie Holmes, their daughter Suri and Scientology, I have came across some interesting bits of  information. The most disturbing is the well….spooky coincidence of all three ex wives or soon to be in the case of Katie, parting ways with the Top Gun at 33 years of age. Yes, it’s true Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman, and now Katie Holmes ending their marriages at 33,with exception of Mimi’s being finalized when she was 34.

What does all this mean?

Well, according to the Church of Scientology:

“The number 33 is known as the ‘Master Teacher, it represents altruism and increasing your positive energy. It’s associated with healing powers through love.”

Hmm….I just recently saw “The Da Vinci Code” for the 2nd time and 33 represented the ‘Meaning of Life,’ which in this case would mean what?

Independence is the key to our existence?! I can dig it!

Bachelorette.com has free shipping on all orders over $75.00.

Well, according to numerology, 33 is the ‘Master Teacher’. It is regarded as a representation of spiritual progress and the spread of positive energy. And that’s exactly what Scientology preaches – global betterment.

It still doesn’t make sense….is it all just a big coincidence? What are your thoughts? Leave in comments below!

Katie Holmes faces Tom Cruise and Scientology in fight for Suri

(Reuters) – Actress Katie Holmes faces two strong adversaries in her legal fight for sole custody of 6-year-old daughter, Suri, as she battles estranged husband Tom Cruise and his Scientology religion, experts said on Monday.

The “Dawson’s Creek” actress, 33, made headlines last week when she filed for divorce from “Mission: Impossible” actor Cruise after nearly six years of marriage and one child.

While Holmes, Cruise and representatives for both have remained quiet about the reasons for the high-profile split, speculation in the media is that Suri, now at the age when she begins a formal education, and the Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a key member, are central to the breakup.

“What’s interesting is that there’s three players in this case – the mother, the father and this very controversial concept of Scientology,” said New York-based divorce lawyer Lubov Stark.

“The daughter is in the middle of this whole divorce. She seems to have been raised in Scientology up to this age, so if the judge comes in and gives custody to Katie Holmes, she can change (Suri’s) religion,” Stark said.

The Church of Scientology was founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, and it describes its practices as a religion. The organization believes man is an immortal being whose experience extends beyond one lifetime, and it has attracted followers including Cruise and John Travolta.

But some observers – including media mogul Rupert Murdoch – liken it to a cult. Critics think the group coerces followers to think like they do, and they accuse Scientologists of harassing people who seek to quit.

On Sunday, following last week’s news of Holmes’ divorce filing, Murdoch took to Twitter and called Scientology “a very weird cult” and Scientologists “creepy, maybe even evil.”

SCIENTOLOGY AND THE MEDIA

“Scientology is a potentially unsafe, if not dangerous, organization,” said Rick Ross, a New Jersey-based expert on cults and controversial movements who has served as an expert witness in court cases.

“I’ve received complaint after complaint over the years from former members.”

Ross said Holmes’ custody battle could hinge on whether Cruise decides to fight Holmes for custody of Suri and how much information comes out about Scientology practices, which the Church may not find in its interest.

Representatives for the Church did not respond to Reuters’ requests for comment.

Ross said it is unlikely the Church would get directly involved in the custody battle as it could bring negative publicity, but he believed members could leak information to “intimidate or discredit” Holmes.

Lawyer Stark said custody proceedings will differ substantially depending on whether they take place in New York, where Holmes filed, or California if Cruise can get the case moved to the state in which he resides.

In California, Stark said the courts presume joint custody, leading to a greater likelihood a judge would give both Holmes and Cruise the ability to make decisions for Suri.

“If the judge says they should have joint custody in California, then Katie would not have the ability to take Suri out of this religion altogether,” said Stark.

In New York, the courts look at the best interests of a child and who’s going to make decisions and care for the youngster. In that case, a judge might be asked to consider Cruise’s religion, although the possibility appears remote.

“Religion can always come into it, but it’s rare for a custody battle,” said Josh Forman, a matrimonial attorney and partner at Chemtob Moss Forman & Talbert in New York.

Like Ross, Forman believed any negative publicity from a long trial might lead to a private settlement.

“I don’t think it would be very good for Tom’s career if he is seen as having a huge, dragged-out custody battle with Katie. I think they should really settle, and I see this as settling.”

The old Hollywood adage “Seven-Year Itch” still holds true. For both first, second and even third marriages, divorce seems inevitable and once thought to be fairy tale couple, Katie and Tom are no exceptions.

Yes, coming in as quite a shocker, the fairy tale romance has officially ended. On Thursday, five days before Tom Cruise’s 50th birthday, Katie Holmes, 33, filed divorce papers in New York, leaving Cruise and their fans searching for answers.

Cruise confirmed that it was Holmes who filed papers – not him – and the brief statement from his rep spoke of the star needing privacy to “work this out,” also noting that Cruise  is “deeply saddened.’ The Dawson Creek actress is claiming irreconcilable differences and is seeking “primary residential custody” of their 6 year old daughter, Suri, as well as a “suitable amount”of child support, according to TMZ.

The marriage was Holmes’ first. Cruise was married twice before, to actresses Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, with whom he has a daughter and son.

“Hollywood marriages” that lasted less than three years

The idea that the term “Hollywood marriage” equates to something short-term is sometimes displayed by citing celebrities who had marriages that ended in divorce or annulment within three years. The following examples of that and reasons may be given when known.

Katie Holmes on Cover of InStyle Magazine

Published by EOTM News Editor on July 12th, 2011 - in Breaking News, Celebrity News

The proud mommy and wife, Katie Holmes has insisted she wants to age gracefully and has no plans on going under the knife. The sultry 32 year old came clean about fashion, fashion, Suri, Tom, Suri and more fashion in her exclusive interview with InStyle –“I’m not afraid to try a new designer or do something trendy, but it has to look right on my body. You don’t want to look like a fashion victim!”

During the interview, Holmes was asked to describe a particularly humbling mom moment.

“Recently, Suri and I were taking a walk and a fight got started because it was cold outside and she didn’t want to wear her coat,” Holmes explained. “My philosophy is, well, fine, because after a block of walking you’re going to ask me for your coat. So the pictures of her [without a coat in cold weather] are sort of embarrassing, but I said, ‘Suri, I’ll take the hit. Just put it on when you get cold.’”

Glad we finally got the dirty on that story, but Katie seems to be use to the constant chatter.

“It’s a constant battle. Whenever I think, oh good, it’s calmed down, another false story comes out. I feel like I’m constantly saying, ‘No, no, I’m actually this way!’ I try not to go on the Internet that much because who needs to hear comments? But I do know what’s being said: I am briefed.”

Katie also spoke about the possibilities of little miss Suri becoming a big sister one day.

“I don’t feel pressure to do that,” she said of expanding her brood. “We already have a very big family: a full household with cousins who are over a lot, and she has her friends. My biggest thing is making sure she’s fully taken care of and doing well.”

The August issue of InStyle is on news stands now.
