Cissy Houston opened up to Oprah Winfrey  in an intimate interview that touched on her famous daughter, Whitney Houston’s sexuality. Cissy revealed that if Whitney had came out as being gay, she would have not been okay with it.

The famous singer in her own right sat down with Oprah on the Own Network for the one on one interview about her late daughter and also promoting her new book, “Remembering Whitney.”

In the interview, which aired on Monday, the 79-year-old  shared an excerpt from her book:

I knew I didn’t want Robyn around my daughter, and I told [Whitney] that. There wasn’t much I could do though. [Whitney] liked Robyn. She was past the age when I could forbid her from seeing someone. Kids have a mind of their own when they get older. They want to experiment with all kinds of things. And I don’t know if it was more than that.

After reading the excerpt, Winfrey asks Cissy, “Would it have bothered you if your daughter, Whitney, was gay?”

“Absolutely,” Cissy said.

“You would not have liked that?”

“Not at all,” she responds.

“No.”

The most anticipated moment of the night was the tribute to Whitney Houston. Led by her mother, Cissy Houston, the emotional segment saw Mariah Carey and Houston’s castmates from “Waiting To Exhale” musing about their bond.

Monica and Brandy also gave  show-stopping performances before Houston’s mother performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in front of a large graphic of her and her daughter singing together. She, and the audience, shed tears.

The moving tribute came after a performance by gospel artist Yolanda Adams, who had some words of wisdom for artists in the wake of Houston’s death.

But once the services ended and her mother’s casket was carried out of the New Hope Baptist Church, the 18-year-old alarmed her family and friends when she went missing. Meanwhile, it was being speculated that she was using drugs at that time.

“There was some confusion about Bobbi Kristina’s whereabouts last night for a short time, but she’s OK,” a Houston family spokesperson told The Daily Beast on Sunday, adding that drugs were not part of the equation. “She needed some time alone.”

On Feb. 11, Bobbi Kristina, who was at the Beverly Hills hotel when her mother’s body was found in a bathroom inside her hotel room, was rushed to the hospital following the tragic news.

At Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, the teen was treated for stress while a psychiatric evaluator was brought in to determine if she needed to be placed on a 5150 (an involuntary psychiatric hold).

“Everything [was] stressful,” Billy Watson, an extended family member, explained to Us Weekly. “Her mama died, so she broke down. Nobody expected her to pass as quickly as she did. [Bobbi Kristina] had a nervous breakdown.”

Whitney Houston Funeral

Whitney Houston‘s funeral takes place tomorrow, but friends, fans and family are already choosing to pay their initial respects to the singer tonight, away from the glare of the cameras.

Preparations have been underway all day at both the Whigham Funeral Home and Newark’s New Hope Baptist Church for tomorrow’s noontime service as well as a wake that will be taking place today.

Funeral home where Whitney Houston body is laid

Hundreds of mourners, fans and, yes, media, lined the streets near both locations Friday. Also sprouting up outside the church and funeral home: makeshift, ever-growing shrines with cards, flowers, balloons, photos and handwritten prayers.

Newark police have been trying all day to keep the crowd at bay, arriving in a mobile unit barricading the block in front of the funeral home, in advance of the private viewing, which mother Cissy, daughter Bobbi Kristina and various other family members and close friends are expected to attend.

At the back of the facility, the entrances were covered with a white tent and curtains to provide added privacy. Cops even wrapped the area surrounding the funeral home in tape to prevent the crowd from overwhelming the mourners.

Meanwhile, details continue to emerge about tomorrow’s funeral. BeBe and CeCe Winans are set to sing at the funeral, which will be officiated by their brother Marvin.Among the confirmed attendees: Houston cousin Dionne Warwick,  Forest Whitaker, Chaka Khan, Ray J, Aretha Franklin, Kim Burrell, Kevin Costner, Clive Davis, Stevie Wonder, Rickey Minor, Alicia Keys and Bishop T.D. Jakes, one of the producers of her final film, Sparkle.Although Oprah Winfrey was invited, it’s unclear if she’ll attend. There has been speculation that she’ll accompany good friend Tyler Perry, who is attending, to the service (and who provided the private plane to transport Houston’s body from Los Angeles to New Jersey). Though Mel Gibson was reportedly invited to the funeral, he is not expected to be there.

Due to a prior commitment, Dolly Parton will also not be in attendance, though she released a new statement in tribute to the singer:

“My heart is with Whitney and her family as they lay her to rest. I did not know Whitney nor any of her family personally; but she will always be a part of my heart and I will always be grateful for her awesome performance and success with our song ‘I Will Always Love You.’

“Rest in peace, Whitney.”

Following Saturday’s funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church, Houston will be interred on Sunday, laid to rest alongside her father at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J.
