“We are Americans, and we will protect and preserve the country we love. On this solemn anniversary, let’s remember those we lost, let us reaffirm the values they stood for, and let us keep moving forward as one nation and one people.” Carla B.

In his weekly address President Barack Obama shared how he plans to mark the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a series of commemorations in Washington.
Obama said the decade since the attacks “has been a difficult one,” but encouraged Americans to see this year’s anniversary as “a chance to honor” those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
“And it’s an opportunity to give thanks for our men and women in uniform who have served and sacrificed, sometimes far from home, to keep our country safe,” he added.
Obama and first lady will gather Tuesday morning on the White House lawn for a moment of silence. Afterwards, they’ll attend a memorial at the Pentagon and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to White House spokesman Jay Carney.
102 Minutes That Changed America
For many the memory is still embedded of the day when “Al-Qaeda hijackers” slammed two passenger planes into the World Trade Center in New York, destroying its the Twin Towers, and a third into the Pentagon building, in the nation’s capital. A fourth plane crashed in a Pennsylvania field when the passengers attempted to overpower the hijackers.
Almost 3,000 people were killed in the worst attacks on American soil.
Without any detailed knowledge on the part of any government agency, many 9 11 conspiracy theorist bring compelling arguments. They believe that the World Trade Center buildings were demolished by bombs, phone calls from the planes were made up, and the former President George W. Bush secretly profited from the attacks.
Advocates of these conspiracy theories claim there are inconsistencies in the official conclusions, or evidence which was overlooked.
Despite it all, eleven years later, that’s the legacy of 9 11, the ability to say with confidence that no adversary and no act of terrorism can change who we are. We are Americans, and we will protect and preserve this country we love.
