Pop sensation Lady Gaga is trending on Google but it’s not business as usual for the Grammy Award winner, she has received a bit of negative press from mainstream media after gaining 25 pounds and stating that she,”loves her curvy new figure.”
Much ado about nothing, right? Yep…we thought so too.
Well it appears Gaga is fighting back in a monstrous way– she is promoting people’s right to a positive body self image…?
The pop star has started a “Body Revolution” campaign on her website, Little Monsters. She posted pictures of her new fuller body donned in only a bra and panties, (to the left…to the left) encouraging her fans to post photos of their own bodies, flaws and all.
Gaga admitted to dealing with eating disorders saying, “My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have,” she wrote on the site. “My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when i eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier then I’ve ever been. i am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And i love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well.”
Well Gaga only had to say things once to her fans to start the body revolution snowball effect — they posted their flicks and testimony in grand fashion. The ‘little monsters’ flooded the website with photos of themselves in their underwear and shared their own personal struggles with body image issues.
Gaga posted to her blog afterwards with a message to her fans– it was titled, “Your Bravery,” her post in part read:
Seeing you post photos of things on your bodies and in your minds that you feel society tells you you should be ashamed of. You are showing them you have no shame. You are brave, strong, and accepting not only of yourself, but of others through your experiences. You are proud to be born this way, and brave in your vulnerability with this community. Watching you all create a safe space online for people to be compassionate is the greatest gift you could ever give me. My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have.
Love, Gaga
On top of this new revolution Lady Gaga has revealed that her new record, ARTPOP will come as an interactive application filled with videos for each song on the album – bonus music, games, magazines, chats, fashion updates and more. The Born This Way singer is without a doubt starting some new pop trends…and we can see other musicians jumping on her bandwagon with this. She has named this new venture, ”multimedia experience,” and the app will be available on iPad, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible versions.
