After almost eight years in development, Black Mesa — formerly known as Black Mesa: Source ….is finally here! Developers utilized the source engine as a Half-Life 2 total conversion in the remake of Valve Software’s original Half-Life.
The stated goal per the developers was to recreate the video game using more advanced capabilities of the Source engine.
Riddle me this — Are you no more than just a piece in their Games.??
Black Mesa reintroduces the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments as provided by Valve.
Black Mesa was built and founded on the basis that Half-Life: Source didn’t fully live up to the potential of a Source engine port of Half-Life, so they fully reconstruct the Half-Life universe.
The newly upgraded version of Half-Life isn’t yet available through Steam, but the developer’s website has multiple options for download and is available at no cost. The games soundtrack is also available for free.
To partake in the festivities of the midnight release, users will have to install Steam as well as the Source SDK Base 2007 which is also free.
According to Wikipedia in its eight years in development, Black Mesa has been featured in several video game publications and received direct attention from the software developer.
Happy “Black Mesa” Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!!!
