Madonna arrested after showing support for jailed Russian punk band “Pussy Riot”

Billboard.com recently reported that U.S. officials in Russia had inside knowledge regarding threats of physical violence against performers and spectators at pop star, Madonna’s two concerts this week — one yesterday in Moscow and one tomorrow (August 9) in St. Petersburg. For the most part, however, the Moscow concert went along winningly…. unless you count Madonna’s speech on stage, which was an attempt to support jailed members of Russian punk band, Pussy Riot. While live on stage the Material Girl donned a black ski mask with the group’s name featured on her back — announcing that she’d “pray for them.” The all female group has always made it a point to wear the masks, or balaclavas, which have become a symbol for the group.

The three now face years in jail in a case that has outraged human rights groups.
