‘Ms. Melodie’ of Boogie Down Productions and KRS-One’s ex-wife dead at 43

Ms. Melodie born Ramona Parker, a founding member of the group Boogie Down productions and the ex-wife of hip hop icon KRS-One passed away on Tuesday night, she was 43.

The cause of death has not been released.

Parker was born in the Flatbush section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn and signed to Jive records in 1989 where she released her only album Diva. Later releasing Self Destruction, an anti-violence lament, and Live on Stage.

Prior to Diva she released a single in 1988 entitled, “Hype According to Ms. Melodie.”

The rap diva and  KRS-One married in 1987 and divorced in 1992. She is survived by her two sons.

Hip hop mogul Russell Simmons noted her death today. “RIP Ms. Melodie. A dope MC,”he tweeted.
