It all started Friday night as the Shakespeare In Love star was partying on location of Jay Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne concert in Paris, when Paltrow tweeted a photo with the message, “Ni**as in paris for real.” See photo below.

The comment prompted some fans to attack Paltrow for using the racial slur, which sparked debate on numerous blogs - but the actress has brushed off the controversy and called for critics to calm down.

Paltrow later defended her use of the word….tweeting…”Hold up. It’s the title of the song!

Singer, The Dream later came to Paltrow’s defense. “WE GIVE THE WORD TO MUCH POWER!” he wrote on his Twitter page.

“As an African American person, I agree that Paltrow’s use of the N-word was inappropriate. But I believe I understand why she thought making the reference was okay.”

Paltrow should have known better because it’s a derogatory racial slur and just because Jay-Z and Kanye are not only dumb enough to use it but also are getting paid by their “masters” to push it will NEVER make it okay. Again, it’s a derogatory racial slur!

Are you suggesting it’s okay for every Tom,Dick & Paltrow to use the N-word at their will?
  3. Craig says:
I think it’s obvious this is a misunderstanding, not Ms. Paltrow’s commentary on Paris demographics. A thoughtless mistake with social media, doesn’t mean that some idiots can go ahead throw a bunch of racial slurs around. The sensitivity about the word isn’t unjustified, and it can’t be pretended away.

Or, in the case of some truly low folks, used as an excuse to trash political correctness, which is what some call having to actually care about how their behavior and talk affects other people. I have no idea why some people are so worshipful of folks who have diarrhea of the mouth.

Great points Carli. If a black man uses the N word, its called expression and freedom of speech. If a white man uses the N word, its called bigotry and hate……I call it a double standard and hypocrisy……

    really Cain,
When a white man uses the n*word … history does the rest! My great grandmother did not have the whip, we didn’t create that word, we didn’t know it until we were called it, rape by it, lynched by it and set on fire by it! Why don’t you read, “White Face, Black Mask”. It will help you understand that it is not a double standard.

She tweeted the name of a song. Where’s the controversy in THAT?

i really don’t think its that big of a deal its the name of the song and lets be honest every one know there is a RIGHT way and WRONG to use that word and i don’t think that she used it out of hate or anger so move on to some thing that matters in life like the Nigeria plane crash that killed 153 passengers and an unknown number of people on ground. And lest be honest some black people have WHITE friends and we call them cracker ,wonder bread , honky but there is no blog , videos about that so move on to something that matters people
