(CBS News) Gillian Anderson recently revealed that she’s dabbled in relationships with women. In a new interview with Out magazine, the actress, probably best known for playing Agent Dana Scully on “The X Files,” says that during high school she was in a long relationship with a woman.
When prodded further about whether it was a lesbian relationship, Anderson said, “Yeah, yeah, well it’s … You know, I’m old enough that I can talk about that.”
Through the years, Anderson has dated other women, but she says the majority of her relationships have been with men.
“If I had thought I was 100 percent gay, would it have been a different experience for me?” Anderson, 43, told Out. “Would it have been a bigger deal if shame had been attached to it and all those things that become huge life-altering issues for youngsters in that situation? It’s possible that my attitude around it came, on some level, from knowing that I still liked boys.”
Anderson been has been divorced twice and has a 17-year-old daughter from her first marriage to producer Julian Ozanne. She has two young sons with her current partner.
