Current TV said Friday afternoon that it had terminated the contract of its lead anchor, Keith Olbermann, scarcely a year after he was hired to reboot the fledgling channel in his progressive political image.

The cable channel indicated that he had failed to honor the terms of his five-year, $50 million contract, giving the channel the right to terminate it. Starting Friday night, the former New York Gov. Eliot L. Spitzer will take over Mr. Olbermann’s 8 p.m. time slot.
Mr. Olbermann responded to Current’s announcement by stating that “the claims against me in Current’s statement are untrue and will be proved so in the legal actions I will be filing against them presently.”
Current executives declined interview requests about the termination, apparently due to the expected legal action. But in a letter to viewers, the channel’s founders, Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, wrote: “We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet. We are more committed to those goals today than ever before. Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.”

Parents of deceased special needs student Aaron Hatcher, may just have had a lucky break while visiting the state capital last week.

Ronald Hatcher and his wife Arthalia have been trying to pass a law to have cameras in special needs class rooms after the death of their disabled child early last year.
State Representative Jan Jones is currently said to be putting together an estimate on placing cameras in special education classrooms and figuring the best way to go about this new change. Jones also plans on sharing Hatcher’s story with the Department of Education and the Professional Standards Commission.
Hatcher has been actively petitioning to have the teachers that allegedly killed his son arrested and blow the lid off the cover up, initiated by the Fulton County Schools. Currently, there is an internal investigation.
Hatcher recently shared his story on CBS Atlanta, whereas his son Aaron along with 5 other students that came forth were abused in the cover up.
The abuse spanned 5 years at two separate Fulton County Schools.
The 2007 incident took place at Hopewell Middle School and the 2010/2011 incident took place at Roswell High School where the teacher Kathy Dorn Durden still teaches. Malanie Pickens was the teacher involved in the 2007 cover up. There has been NO ARREST on either.

Spike Lee meant to retweet George Zimmerman’s home address, but instead he left an elderly Florida couple fearing for their safety.

Lee retweeted an address said to belong to George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, to his 250,000 followers. But the address was incorrect and has caused the couple to go into hiding.
David McClain, 72, and his wife Elaine McClain, 70, are now living in a hotel and said they are concerned for their safety.
“We’re afraid for our lives,” Elaine McClain told WKMG-TV in Orlando.
McClain said her son’s middle name is George and his last name is Zimmerman, but he hadn’t lived at the residence since 1995.
The tweet originated from an account with the twitter handle @MACCAPONE, The Smoking Gun Reported. The account, which is the handle for a Los Angeles man named Marcus Higgins, tweeted the address at various celebrities. Lee was the only one to retweet it.
Elaine McClain said Lee owes her and her husband a “big apology”.
As for now, the official word from Lee’s representatives?

Dennis Rodman is “broke,” “extremely sick” and unable to pay off hundreds of thousands of dollars in child and spousal support payments, well at least according to the Los Angeles Times.

The 51-year old former Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers star owes $808,935 in back child support for two children he had with third wife Michelle Rodman, said her attorney Jack Kayajanian in court documents. Rodman also owes $51,441 in spousal support, said the attorney.
Rodman, nicknamed “The Worm” and “Dennis the Menace” during his days as the NBA’s premier rebounder, faces a court hearing in Southern California Tuesday. He could be jailed for 20 days for failure to pay child and spousal support. Per the Times:
Dennis Rodman’s attorney, Linnea Willis, said in court documents that the former Laker is barely capable of paying for his living expenses, let alone the $5,000 he has for one child from another relationship, and the $4,500 monthly payment for spousal and child support to Michelle Rodman. The attorneys who have represented him to date have worked pro bono, Willis said.
“Respondent Dennis Rodman is broke and cannot afford any additional fees,” according to court documents filed on his behalf. He is “extremely sick” and his marketability is diminishing with age and illness, according to court documents.”

NEW YORK — Fox News Channel commentator Geraldo Rivera said Tuesday that he’s sorry for suggesting that a hoodie worn by unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was as much responsible for his death as the neighborhood watch captain who shot him.

Rivera said a conversation with his oldest son on Monday convinced him he was wrong. Rivera said it was the first time 32-year-old Gabriel Rivera had said he was ashamed of something his dad had said — and it caused the dad a sleepless night.
“He had never, ever used language like that,” Rivera said. “It was like, ‘Whoa, what have I done that would make my son say that?’”
Rivera’s comments last week triggered an angry response among people concerned about the case involving the 17-year-old Martin, who was carrying a bag of candy and a can of iced tea while returning to the Sanford, Fla., home of his father’s fiancée when he was shot last month.
Martin, who was black, was shot by George Zimmerman, who has a white father and a Hispanic mother and has said he was acting in self-defense. The lack of legal action taken against Zimmerman has stoked racial tensions and led to protests around the country and debate about self-defense legislation.
Rivera said he was apologizing “for offending anyone.”
“I apologize for the language,” he said. “I don’t apologize at all for the substance of my advice. I was trying to save lives.”
Rivera said his oldest son was witness to tension between his father and brother, 24-year-old Cruz Rivera, over the young man’s clothing. Rivera said he wanted urban parents to realize that clothing their children wear — such as hooded T-shirts or low-slung pants — could appear menacing to people who don’t know them and could put them unnecessarily in danger.
People lost sight of the message because of the provocative words blaming the hoodie as much as Zimmerman, Rivera said. The death of an unarmed teenager should be the issue, he said.
“I wanted to provoke a response,” he said. “I never expected it to be a viral avalanche.”
