Jamie Lynn Spears, 20, Brittany Spears little sister knows all to well..the stigmata that comes with being a “teen mom.”

The once Nickelodeon starlet became a teen mother almost 5 years ago, and has finally decided to talk, speaking exclusively with  Glamour magazine.

”I was a kid who did a kid show,” she told the magazine. “Then I went away and raised my child, and the world has never met me as an adult. This is the first time anybody is really meeting me as a grown woman and grown mother making a decision about what to do with my life. Do people have an idea of who they think I am? Yes, and that’s fine with me.”

She went on to say that five years back some Los Angeles tabloids falsely accused her of trying to glamorize teen pregnancy. “I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night,” said Jamie Lynn Spears. Now after five years, Jamie decided to make a come back because she wanted to apologize, she said. “I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers who I probably confused and let down.”

Spears said that she was not judged fairly by the tabloids. Her pregnancy was exploited and made an issue just because she was the sister of a celebrity. “I was judged for something that probably most everyone does. I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name,” said Spears.

When asked why she did not take caution, Spears said she was too young, too scared and too embarrassed to ask for help. “I believe in safety and birth control as prevention. But like many young girls…I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it felt especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control. I didn’t want to ask my doctor, because she had a little girl,” explained Spears.

Spears also said that the comments were very hurtful and she did what she thought was right at that time. Her decision to move out of the limelight was to focus on being the best possible mother and earn back some respect. Now that the star has straightened things out in her life, she has jumped start her country music career with her debut album focusing on her teen life, her pregnancy and being a mother.

Assume that by “stigmata” you mean that all teenage mums are afflicted with magically appearing bleeding christ like wounds especially on their hands and feet. Or did you mean “stigma”?
