Singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake has once again scored a role in a potential high-profile movie project. After starring in Oscar-winning “The Social Network“, the 31-year-old star is now set to join none other than Clint Eastwood in baseball drama “Trouble with the Curve“.
According to Variety, Timberlake is cast as Eastwood’s friend Johnny Flanagan. His character is described as a “former pitcher who now works as a baseball scout for the New York Yankees.” Timberlake will also be the love interest to Eastwood’s on-screen daughter (Amy Adams).
Eastwood himself is set to portray an aging baseball scout, who loses his sight and heads on a last road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to scout a hotshot prospect. The veteran actor’s longtime comrade Robert Lorenz will direct the film, while Randy Brown has been tapped as the screenwriter. The production is expected to start this March as the film is set for a September 28 release in the U.S. theaters.
“Trouble with the Curve” will mark Eastwood’s first acting stint after he last starred in 2008′s “Gran Torino“. At that time, he said the movie would likely become his last acting stint. Though so, he hinted that he might consider to return someday. “You never know when I’ll be back,” he said to Entertainment Weekly.
As for Timberlake, aside from this movie, he will be soon filming the Coen brothers’ folk music movie called “Inside Llewyn Davis“, which also stars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan. The actor was last seen starring in some adult comedy pics like “Bad Teacher” and “Friends with Benefits“, as well as action movie “In Time“.
