Today, May 28, 2011 – our President Barack Obama was in Warsaw, Poland whereas he held a bilateral meeting announcing that the United States has agreed to send F-16 fighter jets and C-130 cargo aircraft to train in Poland.

In a quick first step, F-16s from the California Air National Guard will work alongside Polish F-16s this July in a training exercise as part of the preparations for the EURO 2012 soccer tournament.

Military insiders report the dispatch of U.S. pilots to Poland sends a message of assurance to Polish leaders who are skittish about Obama’s work to improve relations with Poland’s old nemesis, Russia.

Did Humphries really buy Kim the 2 Million Dollar ring on a 3.2 Million Dollar a year salary?

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 28th, 2011 - in Celebrity News

Wow, is it true? Did Kim Kardashian buy her own engagement ring? The rumours started after some began to wonder how Humphries, 26, a New Jersey Nets player with a yearly salary of just 3.2 million dollars, could afford a 20.5-carat ring worth a reported 2 million dollars, the New York Daily News reported. Other outlets reported that Kardashian actually bought the jewel for herself years ago, and MediaTakeOut.com dug up an old post of its own from 2009, featuring the reality star wearing a giant diamond ring on her right hand.

So now Media Takeout is suggesting that Kim’s engagement ring is the same one that she was given in 2009 as payment for some promotional work she did for a L.A. Jeweler. The website says that Kim was pressuring Reggie to marry her at the time. The website has compared the pictures of the ring that Kim was sporting on her finger back then to the one she is wearing today and they look as if they are one in the same.

While Kim is not thought to have shelled out the 2 million for her ring, it is rumored that she earned it from work that she did in 2009. The remarkable likeness of the two rings is more evidence that this may be the case. Both rings in the pictures of Kim, now an then, feature an emerald-cut diamond as a center stone, and both pictures show rings that are flanked with two trapezoid cut stones on each side of the center stone.

Does it really matter where the ring comes from as long as it is a token of love and a promise? Share your thoughts.

Eddie Long Gay Scandal Officially Dismissed

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 27th, 2011 - in Breaking News

Let’s face it: life sucks..unless you are Bishop Eddie Long, Monsignor Alan Placa, Timothy Babcock, Joseph Birmingham and I am pretty sure you can add thousands of more to this list. Such things as The Power of love, law, God and all things right and pure generally have no effect on them.

Screw the rules, I got money!

Well as many had already predicted the homophobic Bishop Eddie Long settled out of court to resolve four men’s accusations that he coerced them into sexual relationships.

Both sides declined to discuss terms of the deal, other than to say the civil suits would not go forward against Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

B.J. Bernstein, who represented the plaintiffs, confirmed Thursday that the lawsuit has “been resolved.”

Long’s lawyer, Barbara Marschalk, also confirmed the suits were settled and said they would likely be dismissed by the end of business Friday.

Much of the coverage surrounding Pastor Long’s sex scandal has revolved around the allegations’ gay angles, and with good reason: an anti-gay preacher man bedding young men qualifies as a hypocrisy of Biblical proportions. But the Long scandal is about far more than just sex. It’s about one of America’s other favorite pastimes: capitalism.

Well, an undisclosed amount of it has been presented and allows Long to sweep away all allegations and go on with business as usual, just as his fellow Bishops before him.

Turns out the Benjamins are more powerful than the truth, justice and even,well..I think I will end here…

Amy Winehouse Back in Rehab

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 27th, 2011 - in Celebrity News

The singer’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine that the 27-year-old singer checked into a rehab clinic on Wednesday as part of an ongoing battle with alcohol.

Winehouse has dived head on in a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice,” the rep said in a statement.

Fortunately the singer, who has a series of summer gigs planned in Europe kicking off June 18, took heed to her father’s words and checked herself into the clinic. “She’s determined, and this is all off her own back,” said the source. “It’s just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she’s done the right thing and gone to rehab.”

New Lakers Coach

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 26th, 2011 - in Sports

Mike Brown is the new coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers were expected to announce Brown as the 22nd coach in franchise history Wednesday afternoon but first issued a statement.

“In response to rampant speculation and reports about our head coaching position and Mike Brown, we’ve met with Mike and are very impressed with him,” the team said. “In addition, we have an outline for an agreement in place and hope to sign a contract within the next few days.”

Brown, who is currently in Cleveland, will sign the contract later this week. According to league sources, the deal will be for four years and $18.25 million.

During an interview on ESPN during halftime of Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, Brown said he already had exchanged text messages with Kobe Bryant, who had endorsed Jackson assistant coach Brian Shaw for the job.

Brown is “looking forward to getting to know Kobe and being able to work with him to go and get us a championship,” he said.

The development is a victorious comeback for Brown, who was fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers almost a year ago to the day. Now, the 41-year-old Brown, the winningest coach in Cavaliers history, is leading one of the most prestigious and successful franchise in modern basketball history.

A Female Emcee I can finally relate to…

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 26th, 2011 - in Celebrity News, Music

All female emcees aren’t the same, so it is not possible for one female rapper to represent every single woman. It’s a hard and somewhat unfair burden to even ask one woman to carry, therefore one can not be disappointed when emcees like Nicki Minaj continue to fall short of their civil duty to hip hop fans.

I guess it’s only fair that we allow the Minaj’s of the world to be what and whoever they want to be and make a conscious decision whether or not we want to continue to support them.

And then just maybe we will finally begin to understand why we have to be more supportive of other female emcees who are trying to grab a piece of the industry. Every women deserves a female emcee they can relate to.

Can we all be represented, finally?

Movie Review: Bridesmaids

Published by EOTM News Editor on May 26th, 2011 - in Celebrity News, Movies, Review

Having being chosen as her best friend’s (Maya Rudolph) maid of honor, lovelorn and broke Annie (Kristen Wiig) has to creatively navigate her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals with an eclectic group of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) as the wedding day approaches.

The premise is indeed basic, and gathers momentum as the story progresses.  The individual personality traits of each of the ensemble cast characters come to life as the wedding nears.  As always with an ensemble cast, one of the principal characters psychologically latches on to me.  It’s said that a subconscious connection occurs based on our own personality traits.

My connection is to Melissa McCarthy as Megan, currently starring as Molly in the television series ‘Mike & Molly’.  Admittedly I haven’t watched the series.  Having said that, her character of Megan in ‘Bridesmaids’ is rich with those finer nuances with the ‘savvy’ overtones we all wished we have in a friend and I truly enjoyed every scene that featured her presence.

Be forewarned, ‘Bridesmaids’ features an adult look from a female perspective of those private conversations that take between women relative to the aspects of sex, career, aspirations, and living life.  I’m reminded of the 2009 comedic sleeper hit ‘The Hangover’ which presented a male themed adult look of life’s daily tribulations and another adult themed favorite out earlier this year ‘No Strings Attached’ starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.  And yes, I enjoyed these comedies and the adult ‘R-Rated’ approach to dialog and subject matter!
